Pronunciation Guide
Pronounce 'ś' like the 'sh' in "shoe" and 'ṇ' and 'ḷ' with the tongue retroflexed against the roof of the mouth.
Long vowels (marked with a macron like ā, ī, ū) should be held for twice the duration of short vowels.
The retroflex 'ṭ' and 'ḍ' require curling the tongue tip back to touch the hard palate.
Read 'c' as 'ch' (as in "church") and double consonants (like 'tt' or 'll') with a slight emphasis.
Sanskrit/Kannada aspirates like 'bh' and 'dh' are pronounced with an audible puff of breath following the consonant.
