ಮಧುಸೂದನ್ ವೆಂಕಟಾಚಲ ರಾವ್ ಅವರ ಈ ಕೃತಿಯು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ 'ಶರಣಾಗತಿ' ಭಾವವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. "ನನಗೆ ಅದು ಬೇಕು, ಇದು ಬೇಕು" ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವ ಬದಲು, "ನೀನು ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಮೇಲೆ ನನಗೆ ಬೇರೇನೂ ಬೇಡ" ಎಂಬ ಉನ್ನತ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಚಿಂತನೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
ಸಾರಾಂಶ: ಈ ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕವಿಯು ದೇವರಿಂದ ಐಹಿಕ ಸುಖಗಳನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಬೇಡುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಬದಲಾಗಿ, ಸತ್ಸಂಗ (ಭಕ್ತರ ಸಹವಾಸ), ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಶಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಂತರ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬೇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. "ವೆಂಕಟನಾಥ" ಎಂಬ ಅಂಕಿತನಾಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಗುವ ಈ ಹಾಡು ಒಬ್ಬ ಭಕ್ತನ ಪರಮೋಚ್ಚ ಹಂಬಲವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ:

ನಾನೇನು ಬೇಡಲಯ್ಯ ಹೇಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ
ನೀನೆ ದೊರೆತಿರುವಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಬೆರೆತಿರುವಾಗ ಎಲ್ಲ ಅರಿತಿರುವಾಗ !ಪ!
ಅರ್ಥ: ಎಲೈ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸನೇ, ನೀನೇ ನನಗೆ ದೊರೆತಿರುವಾಗ, ನನ್ನ ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಬೆರೆತಿರುವಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಷ್ಟ-ಸುಖಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ಅರಿತಿರುವಾಗ, ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಏನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಲಿ? ನಿನ್ನ ಅರಿವು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾನ್ನಿಧ್ಯವೇ ನನಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ನೀಡಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಪರಮ ತೃಪ್ತಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
ಚರಣ ೧: ದಾಸ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೈರಾಗ್ಯ
ದಾಸನೆನಿಸು, ಹೇಸಿವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದಾಸಿಯೆನಿಸು
ಘಾಸಿಗೊಳಿಸೋ ಆಶಪಾಶಕೆ ಬೇಸರಿಸಿ ಮನಮುರಿಸು
ವಾಸುದೇವನೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸರೆನಿಸಿದವರ ಸಹವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿರಿಸು

ಅರ್ಥ: * ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೋ. ಈ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಕ್ಷುಲ್ಲಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಅನಾಸಕ್ತಿ (ಉದಾಸೀನತೆ) ಮೂಡಿಸು.
ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಡುವ ಆಸೆಗಳೆಂಬ ಪಾಶವನ್ನು (ಹಗ್ಗವನ್ನು) ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಹಾಕು, ಆ ಆಸೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಸರ ಮೂಡುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡು.
ಎಲೈ ವಾಸುದೇವನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತರ ಸಹವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಇರಿಸು. ಸಮಯ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ಮಾಡದೆ (ತಾಸು ದೂಡದೆ), ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸುವ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಮಗುವಿನಂತೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಮಾಡು.
ಚರಣ ೨: ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಞಾನ
ನಾಲಿಗೆತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನಾಮ ನದಿಯಾಗಿಸು

ಅರ್ಥ: * ನನ್ನ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಹರಿಯುವ ನದಿಯಂತಾಗಲಿ.
ನನ್ನ ಬದುಕಿನ ಜೋಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನ ಬದಲು ನಿನ್ನ 'ಜ್ಞಾನ' ಎಂಬ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ತುಂಬು.
ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದ ಮಹಾತ್ಮರ ಸಹವಾಸ ನನಗೆ ಸಿಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಪಾದದ ಧೂಳಾಗಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಇರಿಸು.
ಚರಣ ೩: ಶಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಭಕ್ತಿ
ಸಂತಜನರೊಳಾಗಾಡಿಸು ಸಂತತ ಧ್ಯಾನದೊಳಿರಿಸು

ಅರ್ಥ: * ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸತ್ಪುರುಷರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡು ಮತ್ತು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಧ್ಯಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗುವಂತೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸು.
ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ, ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಂಶಯಗಳನ್ನು (ಶಂಕೆ) ದೂರ ಮಾಡು.
ಎಲೈ ವೆಂಕಟನಾಥನೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೇರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಹಂಬಲ ಅಥವಾ ತುಡಿತವನ್ನು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಾಡು. ನನ್ನ ಅಂತರಾಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ (ಅಮಿತ) ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಜಾಗೃತವಾಗಿರಿಸು.

Spiritual Environment: "Let me live and move among saintly people, and keep me in a state of constant meditation (Dhyana)."
Clarity of Mind: "Grant me a peaceful mind (Shanta-mati) and clear away all my doubts (Shanke)."
