ಕ್ಷಣ ಒಂದಗಲಿರಲಾರೆ ನಿನ್ನವರನು ಬಿಡೆ ।
ಕುಣಿಕುಣಿವೆನೊ ನಿನ್ನವರಂದದಿ ॥

Pronunciation Guide
ā, ē, ī, ō: Extended, long vowel sounds (e.g., jīya sounds like "jee-ya", bēduvenayya sounds like "beh-dhu-ven-ay-ya").

ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸತತ್ತ್ವಜ್ಞ ತೀರ್ಥರು (ಶ್ರೀ ಐಜಿ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳು - ಅಂಕಿತನಾಮ: ವಾಸುದೇವವಿಠಲ) ರಚಿಸಿರುವ ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯು ಶುದ್ಧ ಭಕ್ತಿ, ಸತ್ಸಂಗದ ಮಹತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಭಗವಂತನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ದೃಢವಾದ ಶರಣಾಗತಿಯ ಪರಮೋಚ್ಚ ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ದಾಸರು ತಮಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಲಾಭಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ರಾಪಂಚಿಕ ಬದಲಿ ಸುಖಗಳು ಬೇಡವೆಂದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಮಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗಿರುವುದು ಕೇವಲ ಭಗವಂತನ ನಿರಂತರ ಸ್ಮರಣೆ, ಭಕ್ತರ ಒಡನಾಟ, ಹರಿಕಥ ಶ್ರವಣ ಮತ್ತು ದುರ್ಜನರ ಸಂಗದಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತಿ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಭಗವಂತನ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳದ ಆಯುಷ್ಯವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೆಂದೂ, ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣವಾದರೂ ಹರಿಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವವನೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸುಜೀವಿ ಎಂದು ಸಾರುತ್ತಾ, ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಾಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೃಷ್ಣನಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆರ್ದ್ರತೆಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ - ಅನುಪಲ್ಲವಿ
ಇದನೆ ಬೇಡುವೆನಯ್ಯ ಒದಗಿ ಪಾಲಿಸೊ ಜೀಯ ॥
ಬದಲು ನಾನೊಲ್ಲೆನೊ ವಿದಿತವೇದ್ಯ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ॥
ಅರ್ಥ: ಸಕಲ ವೇದಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ತಿಳಿಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಜ್ಞಾನಸ್ವರೂಪನಾದ ಹೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣನೇ, ಜಗದೊಡೆಯನೇ (ಜೀಯ)! ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇವಲ ಈ ಒಂದು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಭಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬೇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಸರಿಯಾದ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒದಗಿ ಬಂದು ಇದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಪಾಲಿಸು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ (ಬದಲು) ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಸಂಪತ್ತು, ವೈಭವ ಅಥವಾ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ ಸುಖಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ನಾನು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಒಲ್ಲೆನು (ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಲಾರೆನು).
ಚರಣ 1
ಕ್ಷಣ ಒಂದಗಲಿರಲಾರೆ ನಿನ್ನವರನು ಬಿಡೆ । ಕುಣಿಕುಣಿವೆನೊ ನಿನ್ನವರಂದದಿ ॥
ಗುಣತ್ರಯವಾರಣ ನಿನ್ನ ವಾರತೆ ಯಿದೆ । ಒಣಹರಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲೊಲ್ಲೆ ॥ 1 ॥
ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಹರಿಯೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣವೂ ಅಗಲಿ ಇರಲಾರೆ; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಪರಮ ಭಕ್ತರಾದ ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಒಡನಾಟವನ್ನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಬಿಡಲಾರೆ. ಆ ಭಕ್ತರಂತೆಯೇ ನಾನು ಕೂಡ ನಿನ್ನ ನಾಮಸಂಕೀರ್ತನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಆನಂದದಿಂದ ಕುಣಿಕುಣಿದು ಧನ್ಯನಾಗುವೆ. ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಮೂರು ಗುಣಗಳಾದ ಸತ್ತ್ವ, ರಜಸ್, ತಮಸ್ಸುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಸುವ (ಗುಣತ್ರಯವಾರಣ) ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಲೀಲೆಗಳ ವಾರ್ತೆಗಳು (ವಾರತೆ) ಸದಾ ನನಗೆ ಸಿಗುವಂತಾಗಲಿ. ಇದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಲೌಕಿಕ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದ ಒಣಹರಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಒಪ್ಪುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಚರಣ 2
ನೀಚಜನರುಗಳ ಸಂಗವ ಕೊಡದಿರೊ । ವಾಚಾದಿಂದನ್ಯರಿಗಲ್ಪರಿಸಬ್ಯಾಡ ॥
ಸೂಚಿಸೊ ನಿನ್ನಯ ಗುಣಗಣಗಳ ಸೇವೆ । ಯಾಚಿಸುವೆನು ಇದನೇ ಇದನೇ ಮುರಾರೀ ॥ 2 ॥
ಅರ್ಥ: ಮುರನೆಂಬ ರಕ್ಕಸನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ ಹೇ ಮುರಾರಿಯೇ! ಕೀಳಾದ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ದುಷ್ಟ ಜನರ (ನೀಚಜನರ) ಸಹವಾಸವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಕೊಡಬೇಡ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ (ವಾಚಾದಿಂದ) ಯಾರನ್ನೂ ನಿಂದಿಸುವ ಅಥವಾ ಇತರರ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಸುಖಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಂಬಲಿಸಿ ಕೀಳಾಗಿ ಬೇಡುವ ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತರಬೇಡ. ನಿನ್ನ ಅನಂತ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಗುಣಗಳ ಸ್ಮರಣೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ನನಗೇ ಸೂಚಿಸು (ತೋರಿಸು). ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪದೇಪದೇ ಯಾಚಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಇದನ್ನೇ, ಇದನ್ನೊಂದನ್ನೇ ಪ್ರಭು.
ಚರಣ 3
ಶ್ರೀಶ ನಿನ್ನಯ ಕಥೆ ಕೇಳದೆ ಬಹುಕಾಲ । ಕಾಸು ಬಾಳದು ಕೇಳೋ ಕರುಣಾಬ್ಧಿಯೆ ॥
ತಾಸು ಒಂದಾದರು ಅವನೇ ಸುಜೀವಿಯೋ । ವಾಸುದೇವವಿಠಲ ನಿನ್ನವರವನೂ ॥ 3 ॥
ಅರ್ಥ: ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಪತಿಯಾದ ಹೇ ಕರುಣಾಸಾಗರನೇ (ಕರುಣಾಬ್ಧಿಯೆ)! ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಹರಿಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೆ ಕಳೆಯುವ ದೀರ್ಘವಾದ ಆಯುಷ್ಯವು (ಬಹುಕಾಲ) ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಕಾಸಿನಷ್ಟೂ ಬಾಳದು (ಅದು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜಕ). ಆದರೆ, ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ತಾಸು (ಗಂಟೆ) ಆದರೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಥಾಮೃತವನ್ನು ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಿಂದ ಆಲಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ, ಅವನೇ ಈ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಜವಾದ 'ಸುಜೀವಿ' (ಸಾರ್ಥಕ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸುವವನು). ಹೇ ನನ್ನ ಆರಾಧ್ಯ ದೈವವಾದ ವಾಸುದೇವವಿಠಲನೇ, ಅಂತಹವನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ನಿಜವಾದ ಭಕ್ತ ಹಾಗೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಸೇರಿದವನು.

Summary
Composed by Sri Vyasatattvajna Teertha (popularly known as Sri Aiji Swamigalu, under the pen name Vasudevavithala), this beautiful kirtana is an expression of pure devotion (Shuddha Bhakti) and complete surrender. The poet firmly refuses any material substitutes or worldly pleasures, declaring that he only craves the constant presence of the Divine and the company of righteous devotees. He states that a long life spent without listening to the stories of the Lord is entirely worthless, whereas even an hour of dedicated spiritual listening makes one's life truly meaningful and successful.
Pallavi - Anupallavi
Idane bēduvenayya odagi pāliso jīya ॥
Badalu nānoalleno vidithavēdya krishna ॥
Meaning: O Krishna, the Supreme Master (jīya) who is known and realized through the highest Vedic wisdom! This is the only spiritual alms I beg of You; please arrive at the right moment and bestow it upon me. Even if You offer me cosmic pleasures or worldly kingdoms as a substitute (badalu), I will absolutely refuse them (olleno).
Charana 1
Kshana ondagilirulāre ninnavaranu bide । kunikuniveno ninnavarandadhi ॥
Gunathrayavārana ninna vārathe yide । onaharathegalanu kēlalollē ॥ 1 ॥
Meaning: O Hari, I cannot bear to be separated from You even for a single moment (kshana), nor will I ever leave the company of Your true devotees. I wish to dance with ecstatic joy just like them, fully immersed in Your names. O Lord who frees us from the bindings of the three material qualities (gunathrayavārana—Sattva, Rajas, Tamas)! Let my mind always receive news and accounts (vārathe) of Your divine plays. I have absolutely no desire to listen to the empty, worldly gossip (onaharathegalanu) of materialistic people.
Charana 2
Nīchajanarugala sangava kodadhiro । vāchādhindanyarigalparisabyāda ॥
Sūchiso ninnaya gunaganagala sēve । yāchisuvenu idanē idanē murārī ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning: O Murari, Destroyer of the demon Mura! Never push me into the association of wicked or low-minded people (nīchajanarugala sangava). Let my speech (vāchā) never be used to insult others, nor let me devalue myself by begging ordinary mortals for worldly favors. Instead, direct me toward the service of Your infinite, auspicious attributes. This, and only this, is what I repeatedly beg of You.
Charana 3
Shrīsha ninnaya kathe kēladhe bahukāla । kāsu bāladhu kēlo karunābdhiye ॥
Thāsu ondādharu avanē sujīviyō । vāsudēvavithala ninnavaravanū ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning: O Lord of Goddess Lakshmi (Shrīsha)! O Ocean of Mercy (karunābdhiye)! Listen to me: a long life (bahukāla) spent without hearing Your divine stories is not worth even a single penny (kāsu bāladhu)—it is completely wasted. On the other hand, a person who listens to Your nectar-like stories for even a single hour (thāsu ondādharu) is the one who lives a truly blessed and fruitful life (sujīvi). O my personal deity, Vasudevavithala, such a person truly belongs to You.
