ಈ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯು ದಾಸ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಚೇತನಗಳಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಹೆಳವನಕಟ್ಟೆ ಗಿರಿಯಮ್ಮನವರ ರಚನೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಒಂದು ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ (ತನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನೇ ಗುಬ್ಬಿಯೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ) ಭಗವಂತನ ವಿವಿಧ ಅವತಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೊನ್ನನ್ನು (ಕೈಂಕರ್ಯ ಅಥವಾ ಭಕ್ತಿ) ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಸಾರಾಂಶ (Summary)
ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತನ ದಶಾವತಾರಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಲೀಲೆಗಳ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ದೇವಲೋಕದ ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಬಳಿ "ಆ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದ ಚೆಲುವ ರಂಗನ ಕೈಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊನ್ನನ್ನು (ಚಿನ್ನ) ತಂದು ಕೊಡು" ಎಂದು ಕವಯಿತ್ರಿ ವಿನಂತಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಭಗವಂತನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಏನೇನು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವಸ್ತು.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಎಲೈ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಗುಬ್ಬಿಯೇ, ಜ್ಞಾನಮಯ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯಾದ (ಚಿನ್ಮಯ), ಅತಿ ಸುಂದರನಾದ ಶ್ರೀರಂಗನ ಕೈಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಲಂಕಾರ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಡು.
ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಪದ್ಯ (ಮತ್ಸ್ಯ, ಕೂರ್ಮ, ವರಾಹ, ನರಸಿಂಹ ಅವತಾರಗಳು):

ಅರ್ಥ: ವೇದಗಳನ್ನು (ಆಗಮ) ರಾಕ್ಷಸರಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ (ಮತ್ಸ್ಯ ಅವತಾರ), ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಥನ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಅಮೃತವನ್ನು (ಸುಧೆ) ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟ (ಕೂರ್ಮ ಅವತಾರ), ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿದ ವರಾಹ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪುವನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ ಉಗ್ರ ನರಸಿಂಹನ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಕೈಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊನ್ನನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಡು.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಬಲಿ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಮೂರು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ದಾನ ಪಡೆದ (ವಾಮನ), ದುಷ್ಟ ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದ (ಪರಶುರಾಮ), ವಿಭೀಷಣನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಭಯ ನೀಡಿದ (ರಾಮ) ಮತ್ತು ಗೋವರ್ಧನ ಗಿರಿಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಕಿರುಬೆರಳಲ್ಲೇ ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿದ (ಕೃಷ್ಣ) ಮಹಾನ್ ಕೈಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊನ್ನನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಡು.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಬೌದ್ಧ ಅವತಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸುರರ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರ ವ್ರತ ಭಂಗ ಮಾಡಿದ, ಕಲ್ಕಿ ಅವತಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುದುರೆಯನ್ನೇರಿ ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ಮರ್ದಿಸುವ, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯ ಪತಿಯಾದ ಆ ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನ ಕೈಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊನ್ನನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಡು. ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ, ಈ ಕೃತಿಯ ಕರ್ತೃವಾದ ಹೆಳವನಕಟ್ಟೆ ಗಿರಿಯಮ್ಮನವರ ಆರಾಧ್ಯ ದೈವ 'ಹೆಳವನಕಟ್ಟೆ ರಂಗ'ನ ಕೈಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸು ಎಂದು ಗುಬ್ಬಿಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಈ ಹಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ 'ಕೈಗೆ' ಎಂಬ ಪದವು ಭಗವಂತನ ಅಭಯ ಹಸ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಆತ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Bring gold to the massive form of the Lord (Varaha) and to the fierce Lord Narasimha, the master of the oceans, who saved his devotee.

Fun Fact: Helavanakatte Giriyamma was a rare haridasi in the Haridasa movement. Her songs often have a "cradle-song" or "nursery-rhyme" quality while carrying deep philosophical meanings!
