ಅರ್ಥ (Meaning)
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ & ಅನುಪಲ್ಲವಿ:
ಮನಸ್ಸೇ, ಜೀವನದ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ನಡೆ. ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯ ದಾಸರ ಒಡನಾಟವನ್ನು ಮಾಡು, ಆಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ನಿನಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾರ್ಗ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 1 (ದಾನ vs ಅನ್ಯಾಯ):
ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಅನ್ನದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ನಿನಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ (ಪರಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ) ಮೃಷ್ಟಾನ್ನ ಭೋಜನ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯಾಯದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನಾಡಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ವಂಚಿಸಿದರೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಬೆನ್ನ ಚರ್ಮವನ್ನೇ ಸೀಳಿ ಹಿಂಸೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 2 (ಧರ್ಮ vs ಆಲಯ ಮುರಿಯುವುದು):
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಗುಲಗಳನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ಧರ್ಮದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ವೈಕುಂಠದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ಇತರರ ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿದರೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಶೂಲಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 3 (ಚಾಡಿ vs ಸತ್ಯ):
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪರರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚಾಡಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನಾಲಿಗೆಯನ್ನೇ ಸೀಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದಾನ ಕೇಳಲು ಬಂದವರನ್ನು ಬೈದು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನೇ ಕತ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 4 (ಯಾಚಕರ ಅಪಮಾನ vs ಪೂಜೆ):
ದಾನ ಬೇಡುವವರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂದಿಸಿದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಘೋರ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಇದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಯಾಚಕರನ್ನು ದೈವಸ್ವರೂಪಿಗಳೆಂದು ಪೂಜಿಸಿದರೆ, ನಿನಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಮುಕ್ತಿ ಮಾರ್ಗ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 5 (ಪೋಷಕರ ಸೇವೆ):
ಹೆತ್ತ ತಂದೆ-ತಾಯಿಯರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೈದರೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಅವಮಾನಕರ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಕಾದಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಪೂಜಿಸಿದರೆ, ದೇವಲೋಕದ ದೇವೇಂದ್ರನ ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಭಾಗ್ಯ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 6 (ಅತ್ತೆ-ಮಾವನ ಗೌರವ):
ಅತ್ತೆ-ಮಾವಂದಿರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂದಿಸಿದರೆ ಕತ್ತನ್ನು ಕರಗಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಯ್ಯುವಂತಹ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಿದರೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಸಂಸಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಕೀರ್ತಿ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 7 (ಧರ್ಮ vs ಕರ್ಮ):
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಸುಧರ್ಮ ಎಂಬ ದೇವಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಹುಳುಗಳು ತಿನ್ನುವಂತಹ ನರಕದ ಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 8 (ವಂಚನೆ vs ಪಂಚಾಮೃತ):
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರಿಗೆ ವಂಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಕೆಂಡದಂತಹ ಹಂಚಿನ ಪುಡಿಯನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಪಂಚಾಮೃತ ಅಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ರಾಜಮರ್ಯಾದೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 9 (ಪತಿಭಕ್ತಿ):
ಪತಿಯನ್ನು ದೈವವೆಂದು ಕಂಡರೆ ಪುಂಡರೀಕಾಕ್ಷನ ಕೃಪೆ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಪತಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿದರೆ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ತುಂಡು ತುಂಡಾಗಿ ಕತ್ತರಿಸುವ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾದಿದೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 10 (ಕ್ರೌರ್ಯ vs ಕ್ಷುದ್ರ ಬುದ್ಧಿ):
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಷವಿಟ್ಟು (ಮದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು) ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಅಥವಾ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೆ ಹದ್ದು-ಕಾಗೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕ್ಷುದ್ರ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿಂದ ಇತರರನ್ನು ಕಾಡಿದರೆ ಕಾದ ಗುದ್ದಲಿಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ 11 (ಆಸೆ vs ಕನ್ಯಾದಾನ):
ಪರಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಅಥವಾ ಪರಧನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಸೆ ಇಟ್ಟರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಸುಣ್ಣ ತುಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಸತ್ಪಾತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಕನ್ಯಾದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಪುರಂದರವಿಠಲನು ನಿನಗೆ ಒಲಿಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.

If you feed the hungry here, you will be served a royal feast there. If you speak words of injustice or deceit here, they will strip the skin from your back there.
Verse 2 (Temples vs. Destruction):
If you support the dharma of temples/shrines here, you will find a place in the vast Vaikuntha there. If you destroy sacred places or homes here, they will impale you on a spear there.
Verse 3 (Gossip vs. Begging):
If you spread malicious gossip here, your tongue will be split apart there. If you insult those who come to your door seeking help here, your legs will be severed there.
Verse 4 (Insulting Seekers vs. Worship):
Abusing those who ask for alms here leads to public shaming and a split tongue there. But if you treat the seeker with respect here, the right path to liberation is opened for you there.
Verse 5 (Parents):
If you insult your parents here, you will be burned in humiliation there. But if you worship them here, you will be granted a seat in the assembly of Lord Indra there.
Verse 6 (In-laws):
If you abuse your mother-in-law or father-in-law here, your neck will be sawn through there. If you respect them here, you will be celebrated for your character and virtue.
Verse 7 (Dharma vs. Sin):
Performing righteous deeds here leads you to the assembly of the gods (Sudharma) there. But living a life of sinful karma here results in your body being consumed by worms in hell there.
Verse 8 (Deception vs. Purity):
If you deceive others here, you will be forced to eat the dust of a red-hot iron plate there. If you offer five-fold nectar (Panchamruta) to the Lord here, royalty awaits you there.
Verse 9 (Devotion to Spouse):
If a wife shows devotion to her husband here, Lord Pundarikaksha (Vishnu) will bless her. If she insults him here, her body will be cut into pieces there.
Verse 10 (Cruelty vs. Pettiness):
If you kill others using poison or medicine (Maddittu) here, your body will be thrown to the vultures and crows there. If you harbor petty/wicked thoughts here, they will strike your back with a hot pickaxe there.
Verse 11 (Greed vs. Charity):
If you lust after another's wealth or woman here, lime will be filled in your eyes there. But if you perform the selfless act of Kanya Daana (giving a daughter in marriage) here, our Purandara Vithala will be won over by you.
