ವಾರ ವಾರಕೆ ಮೇಘವಾರಿಯ ಕರೆದರೆ
ಧಾರುಣಿಗೆ ಕ್ಷಾಮ ಬರುವುದೆ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ॥೧॥

ಶ್ರೀಮೂರ್ತಿ ಹೊಳೆದರೆ ತಮವಡಗದೆ

ತಾಮಸವಡಗದೆ ಜಗದೊಳು ಕೃಷ್ಣ ॥೨॥
ನಾ ದೋಷಿ ಕಠಿಣನೆಂತೆಂಬೆಯ ನಿನ್ನ
ಪಾದಪದುಮ ಪಾಪಹರವಲ್ಲವೆ
ಆ ದುಷ್ಟ ಶಿಲೆ ಸೋಕೆ ಋಷಿಪತ್ನಿಯಾದಳು
ನೀ ದಯಮಾಡೆ ನಾ ನೀಚನೆ ಸಿರಿಕೃಷ್ಣ ॥೩॥

Pronounce 'ś' like the 'sh' in "shoe" and 'ṇ' and 'ḷ' with the tongue retroflexed against the roof of the mouth.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಸಿರಿಪತಿಯೇ (ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನೇ), ಯಾವುದೇ ಬೇರೆ ಯೋಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡದೆ, ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವೆಂಬ ಮಂದಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ನೆಲೆಸು!
ಚರಣ ೧
ನಾ ರಾಜಸ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯೆಂಬಿಯ ನಿನ್ನ
ಕಾರುಣ್ಯದ ಸೋನೆ ಸೊರಗುವುದೆ

ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ, "ನೀನು ರಾಜಸ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯುಳ್ಳವನು" ಎಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಎನ್ನುತ್ತೀಯಾ? ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾರುಣ್ಯವೆಂಬ ಮಳೆಯ ಸೋನೆ ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ದೋಷಗಳು ಉಳಿಯುತ್ತವೆಯೇ? ಮೇಘಗಳು ವಾರವಾರವೂ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಕರೆದರೆ ಈ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ (ಧಾರುಣಿಗೆ) ಎಂದಾದರೂ ಕ್ಷಾಮ ಬರುವುದುಂಟೇ? ನಿನ್ನ ಕರುಣೆ ನನ್ನೆಡೆಗೆ ಇರಲಿ.

ತಾಮಸ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯೆಂಬಿಯ ನಿನ್ನ
ಶ್ರೀಮೂರ್ತಿ ಹೊಳೆದರೆ ತಮವಡಗದೆ
ಶ್ರೀ ಮನೋಹರನೆ ಭಾನು ಉದಿಸಿದರೆ
ತಾಮಸವಡಗದೆ ಜಗದೊಳು ಕೃಷ್ಣ ॥೨॥
ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ, ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ "ತಾಮಸ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯಿದೆ" ಎನ್ನುತ್ತೀಯಾ. ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯವಾದ ಶ್ರೀಮೂರ್ತಿಯು ನನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಹೊಳೆದರೆ ಅಜ್ಞಾನವೆಂಬ ಕತ್ತಲು (ತಮ) ಅಡಗದೇ ಇರುವುದೇ? ಹೇ ಶ್ರೀ ಮನೋಹರನೇ, ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನು (ಭಾನು) ಉದಿಸಿದರೆ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಲು ತಾನೇ ನಾಶವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಿನ್ನ ದರ್ಶನದಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಅಜ್ಞಾನವೂ ಮಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ನಾ ದೋಷಿ ಕಠಿಣನೆಂತೆಂಬೆಯ ನಿನ್ನ
ಪಾದಪದುಮ ಪಾಪಹರವಲ್ಲವೆ
ಆ ದುಷ್ಟ ಶಿಲೆ ಸೋಕೆ ಋಷಿಪತ್ನಿಯಾದಳು
ನೀ ದಯಮಾಡೆ ನಾ ನೀಚನೆ ಸಿರಿಕೃಷ್ಣ ॥೩॥
ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಸಿರಿಕೃಷ್ಣ, "ನೀನು ಮಹಾ ದೋಷಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಠಿಣ ಹೃದಯಿ" ಎಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದೂರಬೇಡ. ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಪದ್ಮಗಳು ಸಕಲ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿಯುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಪಡೆದವಲ್ಲವೇ? ಕೇವಲ ನಿನ್ನ ಚರಣದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶದಿಂದ ಆ ದುಷ್ಟ ಶಿಲೆಯು (ಅಹಲ್ಯೆ) ಶಾಪಮುಕ್ತಳಾಗಿ ಋಷಿಪತ್ನಿಯಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ನೀನು ದಯೆ ತೋರಿದರೆ ನಾನು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ನೀಚನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಉದ್ಧಾರಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೇ?

Summary (English)
In this soul-stirring composition, Sri Vyasatirtha lovingly invites Lord Sri Krishna to grace the temple of his heart without a moment's hesitation. Acknowledging his own flaws of rajasic and tamasic qualities, the devotee reasons that just as continuous rain banishes drought, and the rising sun dispels darkness, the Lord's boundless compassion and the radiant touch of His lotus feet effortlessly wash away all sins. Citing the liberation of Ahalya from stone to sage's wife through mere divine touch, he pleads for the Lord's merciful grace to elevate even the most fallen soul.

Meaning: O Lord of Sri, come without any hesitation and dwell within the temple of my mind!
Stanza 1
Nā rājasabuddhiyembiya ninna
kāruṇyada sōne soraguvude
vāra vārake mēghavāriya karedare
dhāruṇige kṣāma baruvude kṛṣṇa ॥1॥
Meaning: O Krishna, if You call me one with rajasic intellect, will Your showers of compassion ever fail? When clouds pour rain time and time again, does the earth ever suffer from famine?
Stanza 2
Tāmasabuddhiyembiya ninna
śrīmūrti hoḷadare tamavaḍagade
śrī manōharane bhānu udisidare
tāmasavaḍagade jagadoḷu kṛṣṇa ॥2॥
Meaning: You say I have a tamasic intellect, O Krishna, but if Your glorious divine form shines within, won't darkness (ignorance) vanish? When the sun rises, does not darkness disappear from the world, O enchanter of the mind?
Stanza 3
Nā dōṣi kaṭhinanentambeya ninna
pādapaduma pāpaharavallave
ā duṣṭa śile sōke ṛṣipatniyādaḷu
nī dayamāḍade nā nīcane sirikṛṣṇa ॥3॥
Meaning: You call me sinful and hard-hearted, but are not Your lotus feet the destroyers of all sins? When the cursed stone touched Your feet, it transformed into the sage's wife (Ahalya); if You show compassion, can even a lowly person like me not be saved, O Sri Krishna?
