ಇದು ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆರ್ದ್ರವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಶರಣಾಗತಿ ಭಾವದ ಕೃತಿ. ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತ್ಮಬಂಧುಗಳಾಗಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಶಕ್ತಿವಂತರಾಗಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ಕೈಹಿಡಿಯದಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಕೇವಲ ಭಗವಂತನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ರಕ್ಷಕ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಈ ಹಾಡು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಅರ್ಥ (Meaning Verse-wise)
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ:
ಓ ಹರಿಯೇ, ಕರುಣಾಸಾಗರನೇ, ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದವರು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಜನರಿದ್ದರೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ನನಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ (ಅಂದರೆ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ). ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಬಿಡಬೇಡ.
ಚರಣ 1 (ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯ ಮಾನರಕ್ಷಣೆ):
ಅಂದು ದುಷ್ಟನಾದ ಕೌರವನು (ದುಶ್ಯಾಸನ) ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯ ಸೀರೆಯನ್ನು ಎಳೆದು ಅವಮಾನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಅವಳ ಪತಿಗಳಾದ ಪಂಚಪಾಂಡವರು ಏನೂ ಮಾಡಲಾಗದೆ ನಿಶ್ಚೇಷ್ಟಿತರಾಗಿ (ಗರ ಹೊಡೆದಂತೆ) ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದರು. ಅಂತಹ ಘೋರ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಓ ನರಹರಿಯೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರು ತಾನೇ ಅವಳ ಮಾನವನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು? (ಕೇವಲ ನೀನೇ ಕಾಪಾಡಿದ್ದು).
ಚರಣ 2 (ಗಜೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋಕ್ಷ):
ಅಂದು ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಸಳೆಯು (ನೆಗಳ) ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಆ ಗಜೇಂದ್ರನು "ತಂದೆಯೇ" ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ನೀನು ವೈಕುಂಠದಿಂದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಸುದರ್ಶನ ಚಕ್ರದಿಂದ ಆ ಮೊಸಳೆಯ ಬಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಸೀಳಿ ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆ. ಓ ಇಂದಿರೇಶನೇ (ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಪತಿ), ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಲಹಿದಂತೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನೂ ಸಲಹು.
ಚರಣ 3 (ಅಜಮಿಳನ ಉದ್ಧಾರ):
ಅಜಮಿಳನು ತನ್ನ ಕುಲದ ಮರ್ಯಾದೆಯನ್ನು ಮರೆತು ಅಧರ್ಮದ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಸಾಯುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲದೂತರು (ಯಮಭಟರು) ಬಂದಾಗ ಭಯಗೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ 'ನಾರಾಯಣ'ನನ್ನು ಕರೆದನು. ಆ ನೆವದಿಂದಲೇ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ನಿಜದೂತರನ್ನು (ವಿಷ್ಣುದೂತರನ್ನು) ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆ. ಓ ತ್ರಿಜಗದೊಡೆಯನಾದ ಪುರಂದರವಿಠಲನೇ, ಅಂತಹ ಅತೀವ ಕರುಣೆಯನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೂ ತೋರು.

Verse 1 (The Rescue of Draupadi):
When the wicked Kaurava (Dushasana) was pulling at the saree of Draupadi in the open assembly, her powerful husbands (the Pandavas) sat paralyzed, as if struck by a spell (Garahoydantiddarallade). In that moment of utter humiliation, O Narahari, who else but You, in Your infinite mercy, came to her rescue by providing endless robes?
Verse 2 (The Liberation of Gajendra):
When the Elephant King (Gajaraja) was suffering from the agonizing grip of the crocodile (Negalu) in the lake, he cried out to You as "Father." O Lord of Indira (Lakshmi), You rushed down from Vaikuntha and, with Your divine discus (Chakra), tore open the jaws of the crocodile to save Your devotee.
Verse 3 (The Redemption of Ajamila):
Even though Ajamila had fallen from his virtuous path and the messengers of death (Kaladutaru) had arrived to take him, he called out his son's name, "Narayana," in fear. Hearing that name, O Master of the Three Worlds, Purandara Vithala, You immediately sent Your own divine messengers to protect and save him.
