ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನವೆಂಕಟದಾಸರು ತಮಗಿರುವ ತೀವ್ರವಾದ ಸಂಸಾರದ ಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ನಿವೇದಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ, ತಿರುಪತಿಯ ಶೇಷಗಿರಿಯ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸನಲ್ಲಿ ಶರಣಾಗತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಾವು ಸಂಸಾರವೆಂಬ ಭೀಕರ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಾರಿ ಕಾಣದೆ ತೊಳಲುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಭಾಗವತರು ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಹರಿನಾಮದ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ್ವರನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಲೌಕಿಕ ಬಡತನ ಮತ್ತು ಭವಬಂಧನಗಳ ಚಿಂತೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಗಿ, ಭಗವಂತನ ದರ್ಶನಾನಂದವೆಂಬ ಅಮೃತವನ್ನು ಉಣ್ಣುವ ಏಕೈಕ ಆಭಿಲಾಷೆಯಿಂದ ಆತನ ಪಾದಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೊರೆಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ:
ಹೇ ಶೇಷಗಿರಿಯ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ತಿಮ್ಮಪ್ಪನೇ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃಪೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಮಹದಾಸೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತು ಬೇರೆ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಪರದೇಶಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ (ಯಾತ್ರಿಕನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ). ನನ್ನ ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಈ ಪರಮ ಹಂಬಲವನ್ನು ನೀನೇ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಬೇಕು ಅಪ್ಪಾ.

ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ:
ಭೀಕರವಾದ ಸಂಸಾರವೆಂಬ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ನಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮತ್ತು ಬಂಧುಗಳೆಂಬ ಕ್ರೂರ ಮೃಗಗಳ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ನಾನು ದಾರಿ ಕಾಣದೆ ತೊಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇ ನರಸಿಂಹನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತರಾದ ಸತ್ಪುರುಷರು ನನಗೆ ನಿನ್ನತ್ತ ಸಾಗುವ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದರು. ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಆ ಮಂಗಳಕರವಾದ ದಿವ್ಯ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಆನಂದವೆಂಬ ಸುಖದ ಸಾರಾಮೃತವನ್ನು ಸವಿಯಲು ನಾನು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ:
ಕೇವಲ ಈ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಪಾಡಿಗಾಗಿ ನಾನಾ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಜೀವನದ ಕೊನೆ ಕಾಣದೆ, ಭಯದಿಂದ ಅರಚುತ್ತಾ ಓಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಹೇ ಜಗದೊಡೆಯನೇ, ಅಂತಹ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಭವಯುತವಾದ ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ನಾಮಸ್ಮರಣೆಯ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಬಡತನವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ದೂರವಾಗಲಿ ಎಂಬ ಆನಂದದ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ:
ವೇದ, ಪುರಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಮೃತಿಗಳು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ತಲೆಬಾಗಿ "ಇದೇ ಭೂಲೋಕದ ವೈಕುಂಠ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವವನೇ ಶೇಷಶಾಯಿಯಾದ ವಾಸುದೇವ" ಎಂದು ಸಾರುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಯೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾಗವತೋತ್ತಮರಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಿಯನಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನವೆಂಕಟನೇ, ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಹೀಗೆ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಮೊರೆ ಇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಸಾರದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಚಿಂತೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ತೊರೆದು ನಿಶ್ಚಿಂತನಾಗುತ್ತೇನೆ.

In this hymn, Sri Prasanna Venkata Dasaru surrenders completely to Lord Srinivasa, the master of Sheshagiri (Tirupati), while laying bare the intense miseries of his worldly existence. He describes how he was wandering aimlessly, lost in the terrifying forest of material life, until saintly devotees guided him toward the path of Hari's divine name. He has now arrived at the abode of Lord Venkateshwara with the sole, profound desire to rid himself of the anxieties of worldly poverty and the cycle of rebirth, seeking only to feast upon the nectar of divine vision and bliss.

Meaning:
In the terrifying forest of worldly existence (Bhava), I was trapped in the jaws of cruel wild beasts—namely my own wife, children, and kinsmen—and could find no way out. In that moment of despair, O Lord Narasimha, Your devotees showed me the path. I have now come to behold Your auspicious, divine form and to feast upon the pure essence of ultimate bliss and nectar.

Meaning:
Groping in the dark just to sustain this physical body, I chased after various occupations. Unable to find an end to my plight, I was screaming and running in absolute fear. O Master of the Universe! It was then that I heard the glory of Your magnificent and celebratory divine names. Searching for You, I have arrived here with joy, so that all my material and spiritual poverty may be utterly destroyed.

Eegide Vaikunthavendubhogeevaasudeva
Nendubaagishrutismritigalu koogutaliveyogi

Meaning:
The Vedas (Shrutis) and scriptures (Smritis) bow down and proclaim aloud: "This very place is Vaikuntha on Earth, and He who resides here is Vasudeva, who rests on the serpent king." O Sri Prasanna Venkata, the beloved of sages and foremost of devotees! Standing in Your divine presence, I cry out to You with deep yearning. Having taken refuge in You, I shall now cast away all the anxieties of this material life and find absolute peace.
