ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯು ಪಂಢರಪುರದ ವಿಠಲನ ಅಥವಾ ಕಟಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಯಿಟ್ಟು ನಿಂತ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಭಂಗಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರು (ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ದಾಸರು) ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಅದ್ಭುತ ವರ್ಣನೆ. ಭಗವಂತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಸೊಂಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಯಿಟ್ಟು ನಿಲ್ಲಲು ಆತನು ಪಟ್ಟ "ದಣಿವು" ಅಥವಾ "ಆಯಾಸವೇ" ಕಾರಣವಿರಬಹುದೇ ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಸಾರಾಂಶ (Summary)

ಪಲ್ಲವಿ:
ಕಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರವಿಟ್ಟನು, ಜಗದೀಶನು ||
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಆ ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನು ತನ್ನ ಸೊಂಟದ (ಕಟಿ) ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು (ಕರ) ಇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಿಶೇಷವಾದ ಭಂಗಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ಪದ್ಯ ೧:
ರಾಜಸೂಯಯಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜೇಶ್ವರ... ರಾಜೀವಾಕ್ಷನು ಎತ್ತಿದಾಯಾಸದಿಂದಲೋ ||
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ಧರ್ಮರಾಯನು ಮಾಡಿದ ರಾಜಸೂಯ ಯಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಸಕಲ ರಾಜ-ಮಹಾರಾಜರ ಮತ್ತು ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಎಂಜಲು ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಶುಚಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನು. ಆ ಕಠಿಣವಾದ ದೈಹಿಕ ಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಆಯಾಸವಾಗಿದೆಯೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ?

ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ಗೋಪಾಲಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲೆದಾಡಿ, ಗೋಪಿಕೆಯರ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ ಕದ್ದು, ತೃಣಾವರ್ತನಂತಹ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಅಸುರರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವ ಸಾಹಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದೆಯಲ್ಲಾ, ಆ ದಣಿವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆಯೇ?

ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಕಮಲಗಳನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದ ಭಕ್ತರು ಮಮತೆಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವಾಗ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಭಯವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ನೀನು ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಓಡೋಡಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀಯಲ್ಲಾ, ಆ ಕರುಣೆಯ ಕಾಯಕದ ಆಯಾಸದಿಂದ ನೀನು ಹೀಗೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದೀಯಾ ಪುರಂದರ ವಿಠಲ?
ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯು ಭಗವಂತನ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತನ ನಡುವಿನ ಆಪ್ತತೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನ ದಣಿವು ಕೇವಲ ದೈಹಿಕವಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ಆತ ತನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತರಿಗಾಗಿ ಪಡುವ ಕಾಳಜಿಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ.

This kirtana is a classic example of Vatsalya Bhava (parental affection) toward the Divine. In this composition, attributed to Sri Purandara Dasa, the poet gazes at the idol of Lord Vitthala (or Krishna) standing with his hands on his hips and playfully asks if the Lord is resting because He is exhausted from His many heroic and humble deeds.
Summary
The song captures the essence of a God who is not distant, but deeply involved in the lives of His devotees. The poet wonders if Krishna is tired from cleaning up after guests at a royal sacrifice, fighting powerful demons, tending to horses on the battlefield, or rushing to answer the prayers of the faithful. It concludes that the Lord’s "fatigue" is a result of His boundless compassion and constant activity for the sake of the world.

Meaning: The Lord of the Universe (Jagadisha) stands before us, resting His hands (kara) firmly upon His hips (kati).
Stanza 1:
Rājasūyayāgadalli rājēśvara... rājīvākṣanu ettidāyāsadindalō ||
Meaning: During the Rajasuya sacrifice, you, the Lord of all Kings, took on the humble task of picking up the used leaves and cleaning the remains of the feast. O lotus-eyed one, are you standing like this because you are worn out from that physical labor?
Stanza 2:
Gollabālakaroḍagūḍi tā bandu... ellarannu konda āyāsadindalo ||
Meaning: You spent your days roaming the woods with cowherd boys and sneaking into the homes of the Gopis to steal butter. You also fought and destroyed fierce demons like Trinavarta. Is it the fatigue from these childhood games and battles that makes you rest your hands now?
Stanza 3:
Dharaṇiyanu tanda danuja hiraṇyakana... sēri surata māḍidāyāsadindalo ||
Meaning: You took the form of the Great Boar (Varaha) to lift the Earth from the depths and the Man-Lion (Narasimha) to tear apart Hiranyakashipu. Is it the strain of those mighty incarnations, or the joy of being constantly with Goddess Lakshmi, that has left you needing this rest?
Stanza 4:
Surapatanayage sārathyavanu māḍi... paripari kelasada āyāsadindalo ||
Meaning: You acted as the charioteer for Arjuna (the son of Indra). You drove the chariot with speed, gripped the wheel in the heat of battle, and even performed the tiring chores of washing and grooming the horses. Are you exhausted from these many battlefield duties?
Stanza 5:
Mudadinda vrajada hadināru sāvira... odagi māvana konda āyāsadindalo ||
Meaning: Was it the responsibility of joyfully protecting the sixteen thousand women of Vraja? Or perhaps the exertion of finally confronting and slaying your wicked uncle, Kamsa, who charged at you like a mad elephant?
Stanza 6:
Mamateyindali bhaktajanaru nimma... kamalanābha śrī purandaraviṭhala ||
Meaning: When your devotees praise your lotus feet with deep love and devotion, you rush to them with great affection to grant them protection (Abhaya). O Kamalanabha, Lord Purandara Vitthala, are you standing with your hands on your hips because you are tired from constantly running to save your children?
Philosophical Insight
The beauty of this kirtana lies in the "Humanization of the Divine." By asking if God is "tired," the poet expresses a very intimate relationship—treating the Lord not as a distant statue, but as a beloved family member whose hard work deserves recognition.
