ಈ ಕೃತಿಯು ಕೊಲ್ಲಾಪುರದ ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಲೂರ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲೂ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಆ ದೇವಿಯ ದಿವ್ಯ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಈ ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕವಿ ಮಧುಸೂದನ್ ವೆಂಕಟಾಚಲ ರಾವ್ ಅವರು ಕೊಲ್ಲಾಪುರದ ಅಧಿದೇವತೆಯಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯನ್ನು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಾಯಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೃಪಾದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಭಕ್ತರ ಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ದೂರಮಾಡಿ, ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಭರಣ ಭೂಷಿತಳಾದ, ಜಗನ್ಮಾತೆಯಾದ ಆ ತಾಯಿಯ ಪಾದಗಳೇ ಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯ. ಪಕ್ಷಿವಾಹನನಾದ (ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ) ಪತ್ನಿಯಾದ ತಾಯಿ, ಭಕ್ತನಾದ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕವಿ ವೆಂಕಟನಾಥ ಅಂಕಿತದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪದಗಳ ಅರ್ಥ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ (Meaning)
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ:
ಕೊಲ್ಲಾಪುರದರಸಿ, ಕಲ್ಲೂರ ವರವಾಸಿ, ಮೆಲ್ಲಗೆ ಬಾರಮ್ಮ ಸಿರಿದೇವಿ ಹರಿಣಾಕ್ಷಿ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ ಕೃಪೆಯಿರಿಸಿ!
ಅರ್ಥ: ಕೊಲ್ಲಾಪುರದ ಅರಸಿಯೇ, ಕಲ್ಲೂರು ಎಂಬ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವವಳೇ, ಜಿಂಕೆಯಂತಹ ಸುಂದರ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಸಿರಿದೇವಿಯೇ (ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯೇ), ಮೆಲ್ಲಗೆ ಬಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೃಪೆಯನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸು.
ಚರಣ ೧:
ಹೊಸಲೊಳಗೆ ಹೊಸ ದೆಸೆಯೆಸೆದು, ಅಡಿಯಿರಿಸಿ, ಐಸಿರಿ ಸುರಿಸಿ, ಕಷ್ಟಗಳ ಕಡೆಗಾಣಿಸಿ ದೃಷ್ಠಿಯಲೇ ದಡ ಸೇರಿಸಿ, ಹೊಳೆಹೊಳೆಯುವ ಕಮಲ ನಯನೇ, ಅಮಲ ದಯಳೇ ಬಾರೆ!
ಅರ್ಥ: ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯ ಹೊಸ್ತಿಲೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಹೊಸ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸಿ, ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸು. ನಿನ್ನ ಕೃಪಾದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ದೂರಮಾಡಿ, ಜೀವನದ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಗಳಿಂದ ದಡ ಸೇರಿಸು. ಕಮಲದಂತಹ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ, ಕಲ್ಮಷವಿಲ್ಲದ ದಯಾಮಯಿ ತಾಯಿಯೇ, ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಬಾರೆ.

ಸಿರಿರಮಣನ ಪ್ರಿಯೆ ಜಗನ್ಮಾತೆ, ಕರಣೆಹರಿಸಿ ಕನಿಕರಿಸಿ, ಮರೆಯದೆ ಸ್ಥಿರ ಸ್ಮರಣೆಯಲಿರಿಸಿ, ಪರಿಪರಿಯಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಚರಣಕ್ಕಿರಿಸಿ, ಪರಿವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸೆ, ಆಭರಣೆ ಶೋಭಿತೆ ಬಾರೆ!
ಅರ್ಥ: ಶ್ರೀಮನ್ನಾರಾಯಣನ (ಸಿರಿರಮಣನ) ಪ್ರಿಯತಮೆಯೇ, ಜಗನ್ಮಾತೆಯೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರುಣೆ ತೋರು. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡು. ನಾನಾ ಬಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಗಳಿಗೆ ಶರಣಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡು. ಆಭರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಶೋಭಿಸುವ ತಾಯಿಯೇ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಲು ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಬಾರೆ.

ಅಕ್ಕರದಿ ಮೊರೆಹೊಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಚರಣಕ್ಕೆ, ಲೆಕ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲದ ಭಾಗ್ಯವ ಕುಕ್ಕುತ, ಚಿಕ್ಕವನೆಂದು ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಕಾಯೇ ಚೊಕ್ಕತನದಿ, ಪಕ್ಷಿವಾಹನ ವೆಂಕಟನಾಥನ ಇಚ್ಛೆಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಸೆ!
ಅರ್ಥ: ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ (ಅಕ್ಕರದಿಂದ) ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೊರೆಹೊಕ್ಕಿದ್ದೇನೆ ತಾಯಿಯೇ. ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ, ಅಲ್ಪನಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿ (ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಿ) ರಕ್ಷಿಸು. ಪಕ್ಷಿವಾಹನನಾದ (ಗರುಡವಾಹನನಾದ) ಶ್ರೀವತಿಯ (ವೆಂಕಟನಾಥನ) ಆಶಯದಂತೆ ನನಗೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸು.

Summary
In this poem, the poet Madhusudan Venkatachala Rao devoutly invites Goddess Mahalakshmi, the presiding deity of Kolhapur, to grace his life. He prays that the Mother may banish all hardships through her compassionate gaze and bestow prosperity and fortune upon her devotees. Adorned with jewels and hailed as the Mother of the Universe and the consort of the Lord (Vishnu), she is the ultimate refuge. The poet, using the ankita (pen-name) "Venkatanatha," beseeches her to protect him and bless him according to the will of the Lord.

Meaning: Oh Queen of Kolhapur, resident of Kallur, please come gently. Oh Goddess of Wealth (Siridevi) with deer-like eyes, please place your grace upon us and bestow fortune.

Hosalolage hosa deseyesedu, adiyirisi, aisiri surisi, kashtagala kade-ganisi drushtiyale dada serisi, holeholeyuva kamala nayane, amala dayale bare!
Meaning: Step into the threshold of my home, usher in new hope, and shower us with prosperity. Turn your gaze upon my hardships and lead me to safety (the shore). Oh Mother with lotus-like glowing eyes and pure compassion, please come!
Verse 2:
Siriramanana priye jaganmate, karaneharisi kanikarisi, mareyade sthira smaraneyalirisi, paripariyali ninna charanakkirisi, parivikshisi rakshise, abharane shobhite bare!
Meaning: Oh beloved of the Lord (Siriramana) and Mother of the Universe, shower your compassion and pity upon us. Keep me ever in steady remembrance of you. Let me surrender to your feet in many ways; please watch over and protect us. Oh Mother adorned in jewels, please come!
Verse 3:
Akkaradi morehokke mate ninna charanakke, lekkavillada bhagyava kukkuta, chikkavanendu lakshisi kaye chokkatanadi, pakshivahana Venkatanathana icchege sikkise!
Meaning: With affection, I have sought refuge at your feet, Oh Mother. Bestow upon me countless fortunes; notice this small one (humble devotee) and protect me with purity. Please grant me the grace according to the will of the Lord (Venkatanatha, the consort of the One who rides the bird/Garuda).
