ಪಿಡಿತುಂಬ ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿಯ ತಂದು ಕೊಡಲಾಗ

ಅರ್ಥ: ಎಲೈ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಬಿಡದೆ ಪೂಜಿಸುವ ನಿಷ್ಠಾವಂತ ದಾಸರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ತಡೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ವೈಕುಂಠ ಪದವಿಯು ಲಭಿಸುವುದು ಅದ್ಭುತವೇ ಅಥವಾ ಸೋಜಿಗವೇ? (ಖಂಡಿತಾ ಅದು ಖಚಿತ).

ರ್ಥ: ತೀವ್ರ ಬಡತನವಿರಲು, ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನೆಂದು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಣೆಯಿಂದ ಕುಚೇಲನು ಬಂದು, ಮುಷ್ಟಿ ತುಂಬ ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿಯನ್ನು ತಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡಲಾಗಿ, ಅವನ ಭಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅಕ್ಷಯವಾದ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಿದವನು ನೀನು.

ರ್ಥ: ಕುರುಪತಿಯು (ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನು) ಷಡುರಸಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ರಾಜೋಪಚಾರದ ಊಟವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೆ, ಬಡವನಾದ ವಿದುರನ ಮನೆಯ ಅಲ್ಪವಾದ (ಕುಡುತೆ) ಹಾಲನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದು, ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಭಾರದಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಪಾಪಿಷ್ಠರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ, 'ಬಡವರ ಆಧಾರ' ಎಂಬ ದಿವ್ಯ ಬಿರುದನ್ನು ಪಡೆದವನು ನೀನು.

ರ್ಥ: ಕ್ಷೀರಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಯನಿಸುವ ಹೇ ಸಿರಿಕೃಷ್ಣನೇ, ಕುಬ್ಜೆ ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟ ಸುಗಂಧ ದ್ರವ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿ ಆಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಅವಳ ಕುರೂಪವನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸಿ ಸುರೂಪಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಸಡಗರದಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಬಿಡದೆ ಪೂಜಿಸುವ ದೃಢಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗದ ವಸ್ತು ಯಾವುದುಂಟು? ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲೇ ಇರುವುದು!

piḍituṁba avalakkiya tandu koḍalāga
kaḍu mechchi avanige saubhāgyavanitte ॥1||
Meaning: When Kuchela came urged by his wife, remembering You as his childhood friend in deep poverty, and offered a fistful of beaten rice, You were immensely pleased and blessed him with infinite prosperity!

baḍavidurana maneyariya kuḍute pālkuḍidu
poḍaviyanu meṭṭi pāpiṣṭhananu keḍahide

Meaning: Rejecting the grand banquet prepared by Duryodhana, You drank the simple milk offered at poor Vidura's home, vanquished the wicked, lightened the earth's burden, and earned the glorious title of "Protector of the Poor"!

oḍane avaḷanu surūpiya māḍide
