Pronunciation Guide
Pronounce 'ś' like the 'sh' in "shoe" and 'ṇ' and 'ḷ' with the tongue retroflexed against the roof of the mouth.
Long vowels (marked with a macron like ā, ī, ū) should be held for twice the duration of short vowels.
The retroflex 'ṭ' and 'ḍ' require curling the tongue tip back to touch the hard palate.
Read 'c' as 'ch' (as in "church") and double consonants (like 'tt' or 'll') with a slight emphasis.
Sanskrit/Kannada aspirates like 'bh' and 'dh' are pronounced with an audible puff of breath following the consonant.

Summary (Kannada)

Summary (English)
In this playful yet devotional composition set in Raga Saranga and Khanda Chapu Tala, Sri Purandara Dasa humorously questions the divine paradox of Lord Krishna. Wondering why a butter-stealing cowherd boy adorned with fragrances and sandal paste is decorated so elaborately, the poet ultimately reveals the supreme truth: despite His mischievous ways as a cowherd, He is none other than Purandara Vitthala, who, upon being chosen by Goddess Lakshmi, became the supreme Lord of the universe.
