Pronunciation Guide

Pronounce 'ś' like the 'sh' in "shoe" and 'ṇ' and 'ḷ' with the tongue retroflexed against the roof of the mouth.

Long vowels (marked with a macron like ā, ī, ū) should be held for twice the duration of short vowels.

The retroflex 'ṭ' and 'ḍ' require curling the tongue tip back to touch the hard palate.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಗಜಗೌರಿ ತಾಯೇ, ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಮನೂಹರಗೊಳಿಸುವವಳೇ, ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಳೇ, ನೀನು ಬೇಗನೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಾ!

ಅರ್ಥ: ಜಗಮಗAವೆಂದು ಹೊಳೆಯುವ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಪೀತಾಂಬರವನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ನಾನಾ ರೀತಿಯ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಆಭರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿ, ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂದಹಾಸವ ಬೀರುತ್ತಾ ನೀನು ನಡೆದುಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ, ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನರಾದವರು ಯಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಹೇ ಜಗಸುಂದರಿ?

ಅರ್ಥ: ಅತಿವರದನ (ವರಗಳನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸುವ ದೇವನ) ಅತ್ಯದ್ಭುತ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಅತಿ ಹತ್ತಿರದಿಂದ ಕಂಡು ಆನಂದಿಸುವವಳೇ, ನಿತ್ಯ ಮುಕ್ತಳೇ, ಸಾಟಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಶರೀರಕಾಂತಿಯುಳ್ಳವಳೇ, ಸತ್ಯಭಾಮೆಯ ರೂಪಳೇ (ಅಥವಾ ಸತ್ರಾಜಿತನ ಮಗಳೇ), ಮಂಗಳ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿಣಿಯೇ!

ಅರ್ಥ: ಮನ್ಮಥನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ (ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ) ಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆನಂದಿಸುವವಳೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಚಂಚಲಗೊಳ್ಳದಂತೆ ಚತುರತೆಯಿಂದ ಕಾಪಾಡು. ಕಂಚಿಯ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನವೆಂಕಟೇಶನ ಅನಂತ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವಳೇ!

Jagamaga hoḷevājariya pitāmbara

bage bage migeiyābharaṇa śōbhěli

nagumogadiṁ nī naḍedu barutire

jagasundari niniṇeyārihare ll1ll

Meaning: Adorned in dazzling silk garments and various resplendent ornaments, as You walk gracefully with a smiling face, O beauty of the universe, who could ever equal You?

Attivaradanatyadbhuta mahimeya

ati sanihadi nōḍi saṁbhrama paḍuvale

nityamukutale nirupamagātrale

satrājitanāmagale mahāmaṁgale ll2ll

Meaning: O mother who rejoices in witnessing the extraordinary glories of the Lord closely, eternal and liberated one, possessing an incomparable form, embodiment of auspiciousness!

Paṁchabāṇapitagoppisinalivante

chaṁchalisade chaturāgirisenna manā

kanchīśā prasanvenkaṭarēyana

inchincharitānanta mahimale ll3ll

Meaning: O consort of the Lord who delights the father of Kama (Vishnu), keep my mind steady and unwavering with wisdom. You who embody the infinite, detailed glories of Lord Prasannavenkatesha of Kanchi!
