ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರ ಈ ಕೃತಿಯು ತಿರುಪತಿಯ ಶ್ರೀ ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯ ದಿವ್ಯ ರೂಪ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸುವ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸಾರಾಂಶ (Summary)

ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಸರು ವೆಂಕಟೇಶನನ್ನು ವೈಕುಂಠನಾಥನೆಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾ, ಆತನ ಶಂಖ-ಚಕ್ರಧಾರಿ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಭಕ್ತರಾದ ಪಾಂಡವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ, ಕೌರವರ ಅಹಂಕಾರವನ್ನು ಅಡಗಿಸಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಅಹಲ್ಯೆಗೆ ಶಾಪವಿಮೋಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಕಲ ವೇದಗಳ ಸಾರವಾದ, ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸುವ ಆ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರ ವಿಠಲನೇ ಈ ವೆಂಕಟಾಚಲ ನಿಲಯ ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ಶರಣಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಪದಗಳ ಅರ್ಥ

ಅರ್ಥ: ವೆಂಕಟಗಿರಿ (ತಿರುಮಲ) ಬೆಟ್ಟವೇ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಾಗಿರುವವನು ಮತ್ತು ವೈಕುಂಠ ಧಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವವನು ನೀನು. ಕಮಲದಂತಹ ಸುಂದರ ಕಣ್ಣುಳ್ಳ (ಪಂಕಜನೇತ್ರ), ಪರಮ ಪವಿತ್ರನಾದ, ಕೈಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಂಖ ಮತ್ತು ಚಕ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿರುವ ಆ ಜ್ಞಾನಮಯ ಸ್ವರೂಪನಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ.

ಅಂಬುಜೋಧ್ಭವ ವಿನುತಂ ಅಗಣಿತಗುಣ ನಾಮಂ |

ತುಂಬುರು ನಾರದ ಗಾನ ವಿಲೋಲಂ |

ಅಂಬುದಿಶಯನಂ ಆತ್ಮಾಭಿರಾಮಂ ||

ಅರ್ಥ: ಕಮಲ ಸಂಭವನಾದ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮದೇವನಿಂದ (ಅಂಬುಜೋಧ್ಭವ) ಸ್ತುತಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವವನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಗುಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನಾಮಗಳು ಲೆಕ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲದಷ್ಟು (ಅಗಣಿತ). ತುಂಬುರು ಮತ್ತು ನಾರದ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗಳ ಸಂಗೀತಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾರುಹೋಗುವವನೇ, ಕ್ಷೀರಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿರುವ (ಅಂಬುದಿಶಯನ) ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲೇ ಆನಂದ ಕಾಣುವವನೇ ನೀನು.

ಚರಣ 2

ಪಾಹಿ ಪಾಂಡವ ಪಕ್ಷಂ, ಕೌರವ ಮದಹರಣಂ |

ಅರ್ಥ: ಪಾಂಡವರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತು ಅವರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದವನೇ (ಪಾಹಿ), ಕೌರವರ ಅಹಂಕಾರವನ್ನು (ಮದ) ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿದವನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಭುಜಬಲದ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮ ಅಪಾರವಾದುದು. ಕಲ್ಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಹಲ್ಯೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಪಾದಸ್ಪರ್ಶದಿಂದ ಶಾಪವಿಮೋಚನೆ ನೀಡಿ ಆಕೆಯ ಭಯವನ್ನು ದೂರ ಮಾಡಿದವನು ನೀನು.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಸಕಲ ವೇದಗಳೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ವಿಚಾರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ (ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತವೆ). ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜೀವರಾಶಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಆಧಾರವಾಗಿರುವವನೇ, ಮೀನಿನ ಆಕಾರದ ಸುಂದರ ಕಿವಿಯೋಲೆಗಳನ್ನು (ಮಕರ ಕುಂಡಲ) ಧರಿಸಿರುವ ಮೋಹಕ ರೂಪದ ಮದನಗೋಪಾಲನೇ, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಸಲಹುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರ ವಿಠಲನೇ ನೀನು.

Venkatachala nilayam, vaikuntha pura vasam |

Pankajanetram paramapavitram |

Shankha chakradharam chinmaya rupam ||

Meaning: "Salutations to the One whose abode is the Venkatachala hill and who dwells in the celestial city of Vaikuntha. He has eyes as beautiful as lotus petals (Pankajanetra) and is supremely pure. He holds the Divine Conch (Shankha) and the Discus (Chakra), and His form is the very embodiment of pure consciousness (Chinmaya)."

Verse 1

Ambujodbhava vinutam aganitaguna namam |

Tumburu narada gana vilolam |

Ambudishayanam atmabhiramam ||

Meaning: "He is praised by Lord Brahma (Ambujodbhava), the one born from the lotus. His divine attributes and names are beyond counting (Aganita). He loses Himself in the divine music of the celestial singers Tumburu and Narada. He is the one who reclines on the ocean (Ambudishayana) and finds bliss within His own self (Atmabhirama)."

Verse 2

Pahi pandava paksham, kaurava madaharanam |

Bahu parakrama purnam |

Ahalya shapabhaya nivaranam ||

Meaning: "Protect us (Pahi), O Lord who took the side of the Pandavas and destroyed the arrogance (Mada) of the Kauravas. You are filled with immense physical and spiritual prowess. You are the one who removed the fear and the curse of Ahalya (by turning her from stone back to human form with Your touch)."

Verse 3

Sakalaveda vicharam, sarva jivanikaram |

Makara kundaladhara, madana gopalam |

Bhakta poshaka shri purandara vithalam ||

Meaning: "You are the central subject of all Vedic inquiry and the ultimate source of all living beings. Wearing fish-shaped earrings (Makara Kundala), You appear as the enchanting Madana Gopala. You are the nourisher of Your devotees, my Lord Sri Purandara Vitthala."
