Pronunciation & Flow Tips
Meccisuvenō (ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವೆನೊ): The "cc" is a sharp, double 'ch' sound (like in "cheese" but stressed). It means "to please" or "to satisfy."
Vēdava tandajanigitte (ವೇದವ ತಂದಜನಿಗಿತ್ತೆ): This is a long compound word. Break it as: Veda-va (Vedas) + tanda (brought) + Ajanige (to Brahma) + itte (gave).
Mr̥ḍanayyanayyane (ಮೃಡನಯ್ಯನಯ್ಯನೆ): Pronounce the 'r̥' as a vocalic 'ru' (Mru-da). This is a poetic way of addressing Vishnu as the ultimate ancestor of Shiva (Mruda).

This song is often sung in Raga Saranga or Raga Bilahari. Raga Bilahari, in particular, is a "morning raga" that is bright, energetic, and full of gratitude.
ಇದು ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ವಿನಮ್ರತೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಕೀರ್ತನೆ. ಈ ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಸರು "ದೇವನೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇನಿದೆ? ನಿನ್ನ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡುವ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕು" ಎಂದು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಶರಣಾಗತಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಇದರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾರಾಂಶ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ:
೧. ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಪಲ್ಲವಿ: ಶರಣಾಗತಿ
ಸಾರಾಂಶ: ವಿಠಲನೇ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿದೆ? ಏನನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸಲಿ? ದೀನರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಕರುಣಾಮಯಿ ನೀನು, ನನಗೆ ಕೇವಲ ನಿನ್ನ ಧ್ಯಾನವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವಂತಹ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸು ತಂದೆ.
೨. ಮೊದಲ ಚರಣ: ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತರ್ಕ
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ವೇದಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲೆ? ಆದರೆ ವೇದಗಳನ್ನೇ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿಗೆ (ಅಜನಿಗೆ) ಕೊಟ್ಟವನು ನೀನು! ಇನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಾದ (ತರ್ಕ) ಮಾಡಿ ಜಯಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲೆ? ಆದಿಶೇಷನ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಯನಿಸಿರುವ ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದ ತರ್ಕ ಯಾವುದಿದೆ? ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಓದು ಅಥವಾ ವಾದದಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಒಲಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ.
೩. ಎರಡನೇ ಚರಣ: ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿ
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ನೃತ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲೆ? ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಲಯಕರ್ತನಾದ ಶಿವನಿಗೇ (ಮೃಡ) ತಂದೆಯಾದವನು! ಸರಿ, ಹಾಡು ಹಾಡಿ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲೆ? ನೀನು ಸಂಗೀತಕ್ಕೆ ಒಲಿಯುವ ಪವನಪುತ್ರ ಹನುಮಂತನಿಗೇ ಒಡೆಯನಾದವನು. ಸಕಲ ಕಲೆಗಳ ಉಗಮಸ್ಥಾನವೇ ನೀನಾಗಿರುವಾಗ, ನನ್ನ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಕಲೆ ನಿನಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲ.
೪. ಮೂರನೇ ಚರಣ: ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಪೂರ್ಣತ್ವ
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ: ನಿನಗೆ ಬಂಗಾರ ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲೆ? ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನ ಅಧಿದೇವತೆಯಾದ ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯ (ಸಿರಿದೇವಿ) ಪತಿ ನೀನು! ನೀನೇ ಪೂರ್ಣಾನಂದ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿಯಾದ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರವಿರುವ ಭೌತಿಕ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ನಿನಗೆ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ. ಪುರಂದರ ವಿಠಲನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕೃಪೆ ಒಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಕು.
ವಿಶೇಷ ಟಿಪ್ಪಣಿ:
ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ರಾಗ ಸಾರಂಗ ಅಥವಾ ರಾಗ ಬಿಲಹರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಹಾಡಿನ ಆಳವಾದ ಅರ್ಥವೇನೆಂದರೆ, ಭಗವಂತನಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾಂಡಿತ್ಯ, ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಅಥವಾ ಆಡಂಬರ ಯಾವುದೂ ಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ; ಕೇವಲ ಶುದ್ಧವಾದ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಧ್ಯಾನವಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಕು.

This composition by Sri Purandara Dasa is a beautiful expression of humility and total surrender (Sharanagati). In these verses, the poet asks a poignant question: "What could I possibly offer to please the Lord, who is the source of everything in the universe?"
It is a reminder that while the Lord possesses all the Vedas, all the wealth, and all the arts, He is most pleased by simple, sincere devotion.

Stanza 1 (Knowledge & Logic)
Can I please you by reading the scriptures (Vedas)?
But you are the one who gave the Vedas to Brahma (the Unborn).
Can I please you by winning a debate or through logic?
But you are the Lord who reclines upon the infinite serpent, Adi Shesha!
(Implying: You are the source of all knowledge; what new thing can I tell you?)
Stanza 2 (Art & Devotion)
Can I please you with my dance?
But you are the father of Shiva (Mṛḍa), the Lord of the Cosmic Dance.
Can I please you with my songs?
But you are the Master of Hanuman (the son of Pavana), who is the soul of music.
Stanza 3 (Wealth & Completion)
Can I please you by offering gold or riches?
But you are the Consort of Siri Devi (Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth).
You are the Supreme Lord of Absolute Bliss (Purnananda),

Key Philosophical Insights
Ajanigitte: Refers to the legend where Lord Vishnu recovered the Vedas and gave them to Lord Brahma (Aja).
Mṛḍanayyanayya: A clever way of saying "The father of the father of Shiva," emphasizing Vishnu's position as the primordial source.
Pavanajanoḍeya: Hanuman is considered a master of the Gandharva Vidya (music). By calling Vitthala his master, the poet suggests that his own singing is amateur compared to the divine music the Lord already hears.
The "Medicine": This connects back to the previous song we discussed (Maddu Madalariye). Here, the only "gift" the poet asks for is the ability to keep his mind fixed on the Lord.
