ಈ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಹಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯೇ ಸರ್ವೋತ್ತಮ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಏಕೈಕ ರಕ್ಷಕ ಎಂಬ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಮಹಾನ್ ಭಕ್ತರು ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಾರಾಂಶ (Summary)
ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅನ್ಯ ದೈವವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಸತ್ಯ. ಆದರೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಅಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿಯರು; ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ನಂಬದಷ್ಟು ಮೋಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪುರಾಣ ಪುರುಷರು, ಋಷಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಹರಿಯೇ ಪರದೈವವೆಂದು ಅರಿತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಭಕ್ತನ ಸಂಕಟಕ್ಕೂ ಹರಿಯೇ ಮದ್ದಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ (Meaning Parawise)
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುಪಲ್ಲವಿ:
ಅರಿಯರು ಮನುಜರರಿಯರು ಅರಿಯರು ಮನುಜರು ಅರಿತೂ ಅರಿಯರು
ಧರೆ ಈರೇಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹರಿಯಲ್ಲದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು
ಅರ್ಥ: ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಲಾರರು. ಕೆಲವರು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿ ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ, ಸಂಸಾರದ ಮಾಯೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಹರಿಯೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಮರೆತುಬಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಲೋಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (ಈರೇಳು ಲೋಕ) ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬ ಒಡೆಯನಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಅರಿವು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಚರಣ ೧:

ಅರ್ಥ: ದೇವರ್ಷಿ ನಾರದರಿಗೆ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿಗೆ (ವಾರಿಜೋದ್ಭವ), ಪಾರಾಶರ ಮುನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮನು ಮಹಾರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಈ ಸತ್ಯ ಗೊತ್ತು. ಶರಶಯ್ಯೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದ ಧೀರ ಭೀಷ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾರ್ವತಿ ದೇವಿಯರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತು—ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಪರಮ ಕಾರುಣಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು.

ಅರ್ಥ: ಪರಶಿವನಿಗೆ ಹರಿಯ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಗೊತ್ತು. ಅಚಲ ಭಕ್ತಿ ತೋರಿದ ಧ್ರುವನಿಗೆ, ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಾಗ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಪಡೆದ ದ್ರೌಪದಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದೇಹ ಮುಕ್ತನಾದ ಜನಕ ಮಹಾರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು. ಅಹಲ್ಯೆಗೆ ಶಾಪವಿತ್ತ ಗೌತಮ ಮುನಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತು—ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸಾರ ಎಂಬ ರೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯೇ ವೈದ್ಯನೆಂದು.

ದಿಟ್ಟ ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ ಬಲ್ಲ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಅಜಮಿಳ ಬಲ್ಲ ಸಿಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದಲಿ ಒದ್ದ ಭೃಗು ಬಲ್ಲನು...
ಅರ್ಥ: ಅಚಲ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದನಿಗೆ, ಕೊನೆಯ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿನಾಮ ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿ ಉದ್ಧಾರವಾದ ಅಜಮಿಳನಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಪದಿಂದ ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಎದೆಗೆ ಒದ್ದರೂ ಆತನ ಶಾಂತ ಗುಣವನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ಭೃಗು ಮಹರ್ಷಿಗೆ ಈ ಸತ್ಯ ಗೊತ್ತು. ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನೇ ದಾನ ನೀಡಿದ ಬಲಿ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೊಸಳೆಯ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಮೊರೆಯಿಟ್ಟ ಗಜೇಂದ್ರನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು—ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಕರ್ತನಾದ ಈ ಪುರಂದರ ವಿಠಲನೇ ಸರ್ವಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ದೈವವೆಂದು.

This famous Kirthana was composed by Sri Purandara Dasa, the grandfather of Carnatic music. In this song, he observes a great irony: while the greatest beings in history recognize Lord Hari as the Supreme, common humans remain blind to this truth.
Summary
The poet laments that ordinary people do not understand—or even if they do, they fail to act upon—the fact that there is no power in the fourteen worlds other than Lord Hari. To prove this, Purandara Dasa lists great sages, deities, and devotees who have personally experienced the Lord's supremacy. He concludes that for those suffering from the "disease" of worldly existence (Bhavaroga), Hari is the only physician.

"Humans do not know; even those who know, do not truly understand that in all the fourteen worlds, there is nothing else but Hari."
Meaning: Common people are lost in worldly illusions. Even those who study scriptures often fail to internalize the truth that Lord Vishnu (Hari) is the singular, all-pervading reality behind all creation.
Charana 1
"Sage Narada knows, the lotus-born Brahma knows, Parashara knows, and Manu knows. The brave Bhishma knows, and Parvati knows that there is no one more compassionate than Sri Hari."
Meaning: The poet lists the masters of wisdom. From celestial sages like Narada to the creator Brahma, and from the warrior Bhishma to Goddess Parvati herself—all these exalted beings acknowledge that Hari's compassion is the foundation of existence.
Charana 2
"Shiva knows, Dhruva knows, and Draupadi knows. The protector of the earth, King Janaka, knows. Sage Gautama, who cursed the young woman (Ahalya), knows that Sri Hari is the doctor for the disease of life."
Meaning: Whether it is Lord Shiva, the child-devotee Dhruva, or Draupadi who was saved in the royal court, they have all seen His power. They recognize Him as the Bhavaroga Vaidya—the only one who can cure the cycle of birth and death.
Charana 3
"The firm Prahlada knows, the fallen Ajamila knows, and Bhrigu, who kicked Him in anger, knows. Bali, who gave everything, knows, and the pleading Gajendra knows that Purandara Vitthala is the Supreme God."
Meaning: The poet highlights extreme cases: Prahlada found God in a pillar; Ajamila was saved at the moment of death just by uttering His name; and Bhrigu tested His patience. From the charitable King Bali to the elephant Gajendra rescued from the crocodile, all bear witness that Lord Purandara Vitthala is the ultimate divinity.
