ರಾಗ ಸಿಂಧುಭೈರವಿ ಆದಿತಾಳ
ಯಾಕೆ ಕಿರಿಕಿರಿ ಮಾಡುತಿ ನೀ -
ನ್ಯಾಕೆ ಕಿರಿಕಿರಿ ಮಾಡುತಿ ॥ ಪ ॥
ಭಕ್ತವತ್ಸಲ ಭಯನಿವಾರಣ ಬಟ್ಟಲು ಬಾರಿಸಲೇನೋ ॥ ಅ ಪ ॥
ನೀರೊಳು ಮುಳುಗಿದೆ ಏನೋ ನಿನಗೆ ನೆಗಡಿಯಾಯಿತೇನೋ ।
ಭಾರವ ಪೊತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಬೆನ್ನು ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ॥
ಧಾರುಣಿ ಬಗೆದು ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಡಿ ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ।
ದುರುಳ ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕನ ಬಗೆದು ಬೆರಳು ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ॥ 1 ॥
ಭೂಮಿಯ ಅಳೆದು ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದ ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ।
ರಾಯರಾಯರ ಗೆದ್ದು ಬಾಹು ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ॥
ಸೇತುವೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ನಿನ್ನ ರಟ್ಟೆ ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ।
ಅಷ್ಟಮ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರನ್ನಾಳಿ ತೋಳು ನೊಂದಾವೇನೋ ॥ 2 ॥
ಬತ್ತಲೆ ನಿಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಚಳಿಯಾಯಿತೇನೋ ।
ಉತ್ತಮ ತೇಜಿಯನೇರಿ ಪಿತ್ತ ಹತ್ತಿತೇನೋ ॥
ನಾರದ ಗುರುವಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳಿಸಲೇನೋ ।
ಮಾಯದ ಕಪ್ಪು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೋರೆಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿಸಲೇನೋ ।

ReplyDeleteIn this evocative composition, “ಯಾಕೆ ಕಿರಿಕಿರಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿ ನೀ”, Prasanna Venkata Dasaru appears to adopt the tender lens of “ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯ ಭಾವ” (Vatsalya Bhava—viewing the soul's relationship with the Divine through the lens of a mother guiding, correcting, and enduring the innocent tantrums of her child). Dasaru addresses Krishna not as the distant cosmic Lord, but as a fussy little child. Each line gently wonders whether something He did earlier is why He is now uncomfortable: Did diving into the waters make you shiver? Did carrying that great weight hurt your back? Did all that running, fighting, and saving the world leave you tired?
It almost feels like a mother trying to calm a restless child—softly guessing reasons, one after another, just to soothe Him. Perhaps these lines also remind us of the many forms the Lord has taken (tracking the Dashavatara in that exact order); instead of sounding grand and distant, they feel close… like a tender dialogue of pure maternal love at home.
We cannot say for certain if this was Dasaru’s exact intention, but it is hard not to hear the voice of someone caring deeply, even playfully—wondering if they should call Narada Guru for help, or simply protect the child from harm with a protective black dot (māyada kappu).

Translation/context: Did your feet ache measuring the universe (Vamana Avatara )? Did your (valiant) arms tire defeating king after king (Parashurama Avatara )? Did your (muscular) arms ache building the bridge (Rama Avatara )? Did your (Gentle) arms tire embracing your Ashtabharya (Krishna Avatara -8 queens of Dwarka - Rukmini, Satyabhama, Jambavati, Kalindi, Mitravinda, Nagnajiti, Bhadra, and Lakshmana)?
