ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ಭಗವಂತನೇ, ನಾನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ಈ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸರಳವಾದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಭಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನಾದರೂ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಕರುಣಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಾನು ಯಾವ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಕಮಲಗಳನ್ನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸಲಿ? ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಾನೇ ಭಜಿಸಲಿ? (ನನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಲು ನನಗೆ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಸಂಪತ್ತಲ್ಲ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕೃಪೆಯೊಂದೇ ಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ).

ವಾಸುದೇವನೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸರ ದಾಸರ ದಾಸರ ದಾಸ್ಯವ ಕೊಡು ಸಾಕೆಂದರೆ || 1 ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಹೇ ವಾಸುದೇವನೇ, ನನಗೆ ತಿನ್ನಲು ಅನ್ನ (ಗ್ರಾಸ) ಮತ್ತು ಇರಲು ಮನೆ (ವಾಸ) ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಡಿ, ಬೇಸರ ಪಡಿಸಿ ಬೇಡಲು ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ನನಗೆ ಇದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಬೇಡ; ನಿನ್ನ ಪರಮ ಭಕ್ತರಾದ ದಾಸರ, ದಾಸರ, ದಾಸರ ಮನೆಯ ಆಳಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುವ 'ದಾಸಾನುದಾಸ' ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕರುಣಿಸು, ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕು.

ಸತಿಸುತರುಗಳ ಸಹಿತನಾಗಿ ನಾ ಹಿತದಿಂದ ಇರಬೇಕೆಂಬೊದಿಲ್ಲ |
ಇತರ ವಿಷಯಂಗಳಿಗೆರಗಿಸದೆ ಮನಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಥಾಮೃತವನೆ ಕೊಡು ಸಾಕೆಂದರೆ || 2 ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಸಂಸಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿ (ಸತಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಮಕ್ಕಳ (ಸುತರು) ಜೊತೆಗೂಡಿ ನಾನು ಭೌತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಖ-ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಬಾಳಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಆಸೆ ನನಗಿಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಲೌಕಿಕವಾದ ಇತರೆ ಆಸೆ-ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಗಳಿಗೆ, ಭೋಗಗಳಿಗೆ ತಲೆಬಾಗದಂತೆ (ಎರಗಿಸದೆ) ತಡೆದು, ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಲೀಲೆಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಹರಿಕಥೆ ಎಂಬ ಅಮೃತವನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಆಸ್ವಾದಿಸುವ ಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡು, ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕು.
ಚರಣ 3
ಸಾಲವಾಯಿತು, ಸಂಬಳ ಎನಗೆ ಸಾಲದೆಂದು ಬೇಡ ಬಂದುದಿಲ್ಲ |
ನಾಲಗೆಯಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನಾಮದುಚ್ಚರಣೆಯ ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿದೆನಲ್ಲದೆ || 3 ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ನನಗೆ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಲ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದೆ, ನನ್ನ ಶ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಸಂಬಳ ಅಥವಾ ಆದಾಯ ಸಾಲುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಕೊರಗುತ್ತಾ ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಕೈಚಾಚಲು ನಾನು ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ನಾಲಗೆಯು ಸದಾಕಾಲ ನಿನ್ನ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾದ ನಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಉಚ್ಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವಂತೆ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸು ಎಂದು ಮಾತ್ರ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರೇನನ್ನೂ ಅಲ್ಲ.
ಚರಣ 4
ಒಡವೆ ಒಡ್ಯಾಣಗಳಿಲ್ಲೆಂದು ಬಡವನೆಂದು ಬೇಡಬಂದುದಿಲ್ಲ |
ಒಡೆಯ ನಿನ್ನಡಿಗಳಿಗೆರಗುವುದಕೆ ಮನ ಬಿಡದಿಹದೊಂದನು ಕೊಡು ಸಾಕೆಂದರೆ || 4 ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಧರಿಸಲು ಚಿನ್ನದ ಒಡವೆಗಳಿಲ್ಲ, ಸೊಂಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಒಡ್ಯಾಣವಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಬಡವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಅಳಲು ತೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಾನು ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೇ ಜಗದೊಡೆಯನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಪಾದಗಳಿಗೆ (ಅಡಿಗಳಿಗೆ) ಸದಾ ಶಿರಬಾಗಿ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸುವ ದೃಢವಾದ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕರುಣಿಸು, ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕು.

ಆಗಬೇಕು ರಾಜ್ಯಭೋಗಗಳೆನಗೆಂದು ಈಗ ನಾನು ಬೇಡಬಂದುದಿಲ್ಲ |
ನಾಗಶಯನ ರಂಗವಿಠಲ ನಾ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಕಾಯುವ ಭಾಗ್ಯ ಸಾಕೆಂದರೆ || 5 ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ನನಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಿಗಬೇಕು, ರಾಜವೈಭೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ದುರಾಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಾನೀಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದಿಶೇಷನ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಯನಿಸಿರುವ ಹೇ ರಂಗವಿಠಲನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವ ಒಬ್ಬ ದ್ವಾರಪಾಲಕನಾಗುವ ಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ನೀಡು, ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕು ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ತಮ್ಮ ಅನನ್ಯ ಶರಣಾಗತಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Composed by Sri Sripadarajaru, one of the foundational saints of the Haridasa lineage, this poignant kirtana represents the absolute pinnacle of unalloyed, desireless devotion (Nishkama Bhakti). Instead of asking for worldly possessions, comfort, or status, the saint explicitly declines food, shelter, wealth, family pleasures, and royal luxury. Instead, he places a beautiful, humble condition before the Lord: "If you do not grant me even these basic spiritual assets—such as the chanting of Your name, hearing Your divine stories, and serving Your devotees—how am I to maintain faith and worship Your lotus feet?" It highlights the pure mindset of a true surrender (Sharanagati).

Idanādaru kodadiddare ninna padakamalava nambi bhajisuvadhentho ||
Meaning: O Lord, if You do not grant me at least (idanādaru) these few fundamental spiritual blessings, how on earth am I to place my absolute faith in Your lotus feet (padakamalava) and worship You? (The poet playfully implies that to keep up his devotion, he requires the wealth of grace, not gold).
Charana 1
Grāsavāsagalige illavendu ninna bēsarisi bēda bandudilla |
Vāsudēvane ninna dāsara dāsara dāsara dāsyava kodu sākendare || 1 ||
Meaning: O Lord Vasudeva, I have not come to Your doorstep to annoy or weary You (bēsarisi) with complaints that I lack food (grāsa) to eat or a shelter (vāsa) to live in. I do not desire those things. It is more than enough (sākendare) if You simply grant me the privilege of absolute servitude (dāsyava) to the servants of the servants of the servants of Your true devotees.
Charana 2
Sathisutharugala sahithanāgi nā hithadinda irabēkambodilla |
Ithara vishayangaligeragisade manake ninna kathāmri thavane kodu sākendare || 2 ||
Meaning: I do not ask to live a highly comfortable, cozy, and pleasurable material life surrounded by a wife (sathi) and children (sutharu). Restrain my mind from bowing down (eragisade) to other mundane, worldly temptations (ithara vishaya), and instead, just bless me with the continuous nectar of Your divine stories (kathāmrit_hava). That is all I ask.

Sālavāyithu, sambala enage sāladhendu bēda bandudilla |
Nālageyali ninna nāmaduccharaneya pālisabēkendu bēdidenalladhe || 3 ||
Meaning: I have not come to beg because I am drowning in debt (sāla) or because my wages (sambala) are insufficient to sustain me. My only prayer to You is to protect and sustain (pālisa) the constant vibration and utterance of Your holy name (nāmaduccharene) upon my tongue (nālageyali). I ask for nothing else.

Odave odyānagalillendu badavanendu bēdabandudilla |
Odeya ninnadigaligeraguvudake mana bidadihadonda kodu sākendare || 4 ||
Meaning: I haven't come to cry about being a poor man (badava) who lacks gold ornaments (odave) or a traditional jeweled waist-belt (odyāna). O Supreme Master (Odeya), just grant me one single thing: an unyielding, unwavering mind that never stops bowing down and surrendering at Your divine feet.
Charana 5
Āgabēku rājyabhōgagalenagendu īga nānu bēdabandudilla |
Nāgashayana rangavithala nā ninna bāgila kāyuva bhāgya sākendare || 5 ||
Meaning: I am definitely not standing before You right now to demand royal kingdoms, political empires, or supreme luxuries (rājyabhōga). O Lord Rangavithala, who reclines on the serpent bed (Nāgashayana)! The ultimate fortune (bhāgya) for me would be to simply serve as a humble gatekeeper, guarding Your divine door. That alone is more than enough for me.
