ಆನಂದದಾಸರು (೧೮೪೬-೧೯೨೮) ಹರಿದಾಸ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಒಬ್ಬ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ದಾಸರು. ಇವರ ಪೂರ್ವಾಶ್ರಮದ ಹೆಸರು 'ಸುಬ್ಬರಾಯರು'. ಇವರು ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನದ ಅರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗೀತ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇವರು ವಿಜಯದಾಸರ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಪಂಚಮುಖಿ ಹನುಮಂತದಾಸರ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು. ಇವರ ಅಂಕಿತನಾಮ 'ಕಮಲೇಶ ವಿಠಲ'. ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಎರಡರಲ್ಲೂ ಪಳಗಿದ್ದ ಇವರು ಮೈಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅನೇಕ ಸುಂದರ ದೇವರನಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಾರಾಂಶ (Summary)
ಈ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರವು ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರದ ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತಾದದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ. ದಾಸರು ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವಿನಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾ, "ತಾಯಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕರುಣಾಪೂರ್ಣ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀರು" ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬಡವರ ಕಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಗಿಸುವ, ಮಂದಹಾಸದ ಚೆಲುವೆಯಾದ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯು ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯ ಪಟ್ಟದ ರಾಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅವಳ ಪಾದಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತಮಗೆ ಕರುಣಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಈ ಹಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆನಂದದಾಸರು ಹಂಬಲಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ (Paragraph-wise Meaning)
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುಪಲ್ಲವಿ:

ಧರಣಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಸುಂದರತರ | ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಿ ಮೆರೆವ ಧೊರೆಯ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಎಲೈ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನ ಅಧಿದೇವತೆಯಾದ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯೇ (ಸಿರಿಯೇ), ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರುಣೆ ತೋರಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡು. ಈ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕೊಲ್ಹಾಪುರ ಎಂಬ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿರಾಜಮಾನಳಾಗಿ ಆಳುತ್ತಿರುವ ದೇವಿಯೇ, ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಬಾ.
ಚರಣ ೧:
ವಿಧಿ ಭವಾದಿಗಳ ಸದನದೊಳಗೆ | ಅಭ್ಯುದಯ ಕಟಾಕ್ಷದ ಸುಧೆಯವಗರೆಯ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಬ್ರಹ್ಮದೇವ (ವಿಧಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಶಿವನ (ಭವ) ಅರಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಖ-ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿ ತುಂಬಿರಲು ನಿನ್ನ ಕರುಣೆಯ ನೋಟವೇ ಕಾರಣ. ನಿನ್ನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯು ಅಮೃತದಂತೆ (ಸುಧೆ) ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸದಾ ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಂತಹ ಅಭ್ಯುದಯವನ್ನು ನಮಗೂ ನೀಡು.
ಚರಣ ೨:
ಸುಂದರಾನನರವಿಂದದ ಮಲ್ಲಿಗೆ | ಮಂದಹಾಸ ಮಕರಂದ ಸುರಿಯೆ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ತಾಯಿಯೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖವು ಅರಳಿದ ಕಮಲದಂತೆ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಂದಹಾಸವು ಮಲ್ಲಿಗೆಯಂತೆ ಪರಿಮಳಯುಕ್ತವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದರಿಂದ ಭಕ್ತಿಯ ಮಕರಂದವು (ಜೇನು) ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವಂತೆ ಭಾಸವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಕಡು ಬೆಡಗಿನ ನಿನ್ನಡಿದಾವರೆಗಳ | ಬಿಡದೆ ಭಜಿಪ ವರ ಕೊಡು ಸುಂದರಿಯೆ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆಕರ್ಷಕವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ನಿನ್ನ ಪಾದಕಮಲಗಳನ್ನು (ಅಡಿದಾವರೆ) ಕ್ಷಣಕಾಲವೂ ಬಿಡದೆ ಸದಾ ಭಜಿಸುವಂತಹ ವರವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕರುಣಿಸು ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿಯೇ.
ಚರಣ ೪:
ಬಡವರಭೀಷ್ಟೆಯ ಕೊಡುವಳೆಂದು ಬಡಬಡಿಸಿ ಬಂದೆ ನೊನ್ನೊಡಲಿನ ಮೊರೆಯೆ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಬಡವರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರ ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಈಡೇರಿಸುವವಳು ನೀನೇ ಎಂದು ನಂಬಿ, ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತಾ (ಬಡಬಡಿಸಿ) ನನ್ನ ಅಂತರಾಳದ ಮೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
ಚರಣ ೫:
ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಕಮಲೇಶ ವಿಠ್ಠಲರಾಯನ | ಪಟ್ಟದರಸಿಯೆಂಬ ಕಟ್ಟಳೆ ಬರೆಯೆ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಈ ವರವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ, ನೀನು ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ ಕಮಲೇಶ ವಿಠಲನ (ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯ) ಪಟ್ಟದ ರಾಣಿ ಎಂಬ ಬಿರುದು ಸಾರ್ಥಕವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಿನ್ನ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಸಲಹುವುದು ನಿನ್ನ ಧರ್ಮ (ಕಟ್ಟಳೆ), ಅದನ್ನು ನೀನು ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Ananda Dasaru (1846–1928) was a prominent saint in the Haridasa lineage. His birth name was Subbaraya. He served as a palace musician (Vidwan) in the Mysore Kingdom. He was a disciple of Panchamukhi Hanumanthadasaru, who belonged to the lineage of the great Vijaya Dasaru. His Ankita Nama (pen name/signature) is "Kamalesha Vitthala". Being an expert in both Carnatic music and literature, he composed many soul-stirring songs, often while residing in Mysore.
Summary
This hymn is a prayer addressed to Goddess Mahalakshmi of Kolhapur. The poet appeals to the Mother to cast her compassionate glance upon him. He describes her as the supreme queen seated on the throne of Kolhapur, whose mere glance brings prosperity to even the highest gods like Brahma and Shiva. He begs for the boon of eternal devotion to her lotus feet and reminds her that as the Empress of Lord Kamalesha Vitthala, it is her "duty" to protect the poor and the suffering.

Vidhi bhavaadigala sadanadolage | Abhyudaya katakshada sudheyavagareya ||
Meaning: In the abodes of Lord Brahma (Vidhi) and Lord Shiva (Bhava), it is the nectar (Sudha) of your auspicious glance that showers prosperity and growth (Abhyudaya). Without your grace, even the gods lack splendor.
Stanza 2
Sundaraananaravindada mallige | Mandahasa makaranda suriye ||
Meaning: Your face is as beautiful as a blooming lotus (Aravinda). The gentle smile (Mandahasa) on your lips is like a fragrant jasmine flower, from which the nectar (Makaranda) of grace drips constantly.
Stanza 3
Kadu bedagina ninnadidaavaregala | Bidade bhajipa vara kodu sundariye ||
Meaning: O beautiful one, please grant me this single boon: that I may worship your exquisitely charming lotus feet (Adidavare) incessantly, without ever letting go.
Stanza 4
Badavarabheeshteya koduvalendu bada-badisi bande nonnodalina moreye ||
Meaning: Hearing that you are the one who fulfills the deepest desires of the poor and the humble, I have come to you chanting your name and crying out the inner plea (More) of my soul.
Stanza 5
Kottare Kamalesha-Vitthalarayana | Pattadarasiyemba kattale bareye ||
Meaning: If you grant me your grace, only then will your title as the "Empress (Pattadarasi) of Lord Kamalesha Vitthala" be truly justified. It is your established rule (Kattale) and dharma to protect your devotees; please uphold it now.
