ಸಾರಾಂಶ
ಈ ಕೀರ್ತನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹೀಪತಿ ದಾಸರು ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಲೀಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿ ವರ್ಣಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ ಕಳ್ಳನಾಗಿ, ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣನಾಗಿ, ನಂದಕುಮಾರನಾಗಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಹೇಗೆ ಭಕ್ತರ ಮನವನ್ನು ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಈ ಕೃತಿ ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಯಶೋದೆಯ ಕಂದನಾದ ಶ್ರೀಹರಿಯನ್ನು ನಿತ್ಯವೂ ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವುದೇ ಜೀವನದ ಸಾರ್ಥಕತೆ ಎಂದು ದಾಸರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪದ್ಯದ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಪಲ್ಲವಿ:
ಇವನೋಡಮ್ಮಾ ನವನೀತ ಚೋರಾ
ದೇವ ದೇವ ಮಾಮನೋಹರಾ ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಓ ತಾಯಿಯೇ, ಇತ್ತ ನೋಡು! ಬೆಣ್ಣೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳ್ಳತನದಿಂದ ತಿನ್ನುವ ಈ ಕೃಷ್ಣನನ್ನು ನೋಡು. ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಗೂ ದೇವನಾದ, ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಮೋಹಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಈ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಲೀಲೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡು.
ಚರಣ 1:
ಗೋವನಿವ ಗೋಪಾಲ ಶ್ರೀಧರಾ
ಗೋವಿಸುವ ಈವ ದಾಮೋದರಾ |
ಸಾವಿರ ನಾಮದೊಡೆಯಾ ಸಹಕಾರಾ

ಅರ್ಥ: ಇವನು ಗೋವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಯುವ ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ, ಶ್ರೀಧರ. ಹಸುಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಸರೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ದಾಮೋದರ. ಸಾವಿರಾರು ನಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ ಒಡೆಯ. ಕಾಲಿಯ ಸರ್ಪದ ಹೆಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನರ್ತಿಸಿದ ಧೀರ ಇವನು.
ಚರಣ 2:
ಸಿರಿಯ ಲೋಲನಿವ ನಂದಕುಮಾರಾ
ಉರಗಶಯನ ಕೌಸ್ತುಭಧರಾ |
ಪರಮಪುರುಷ ಹರಿಯೆ ಸುರವರಾ
ಮರುಳು ಮಾಡಿದವ ಗೊಲ್ಲತೇರಾ || 2 ||
ಅರ್ಥ: ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿದೇವಿಯ ಆಪ್ತನಾದ ಇವನು ನಂದಕುಮಾರ. ಆದಿಶೇಷನ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಲಗುವವನು, ಕೌಸ್ತುಭ ಮಣಿಯನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದವನು. ಪರಮ ಪುರುಷನಾದ ಹರಿಯೇ ದೇವಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ. ಗೋಪಿಕಾ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರನ್ನು ಮರುಳು ಮಾಡಿದವನು ಈ ಕೃಷ್ಣ.
ಚರಣ 3:
ಬೆಣ್ಣಿಮೊಸರು ಕದ್ದು ಒಯ್ವನಾ
ಕಣ್ಣಿಲೆ ಕಟ್ಟಬೇಕು ಇವನಾ |
ಪುಣ್ಯ ಉಳ್ಳ ಯಶೋದೆ ಕಂದನಾ

ಅರ್ಥ: ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ ಮೊಸರನ್ನು ಕದ್ದು ತಿನ್ನುವ ಈ ಕಳ್ಳನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕಣ್ಣಿಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (ಹಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ) ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಹಾಕಬೇಕು. ಮಹಾ ಪುಣ್ಯವಂತೆ ಯಶೋದೆಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಈ ಶ್ರೀಪತಿಯ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನವೂ ಕೊಂಡಾಡಬೇಕು.

Meaning: "He is the beloved of Lakshmi and the son of Nanda. He reclines on the serpent Shesha and wears the Kaustubha jewel. He is the Supreme Being, the Lord Hari, who enchanted the Gopis of Vrindavana."

Beṇṇimosaru kaddu oyvanā
Kaṇṇile kaṭṭabēku ivanā |
Puṇya uḷḷa yaśōde kandanā
Baṇṇisō mahipatiyanudinā || 3 ||
Meaning: "He steals and carries away butter and yogurt; we must tie him up with a rope! Let us praise every day the glory of this Lord, who is the blessed son of Mother Yashoda."
